Farris quoted in Minnesota Daily
Jill Farris, director of sexual health training and education for the PRC was quoted by the Minnesota Daily in an article, “Student Group Works to Combat Myths in Sexual Education.” Farris noted that students enter college with varying levels of sexual health knowledge, pointing out an important need for comprehensive sex ed during the undergraduate years that includes topics ranging from STIs and contraception to sexual consent, healthy relationships and gender identity. https://www.mndaily.com/article/2019/03/n-student-group-works-to-combat-myths-in-sexual-education

McRee named UMN McKnight Presidential Fellow
Annie-Laurie McRee, Associate Professor and HYD-PRC deputy director was named a UMN McKnight Presidential Fellow. This 3-year award is the University’s pre-eminent mid-career faculty award, recognizing excellence in research, scholarship, leadership, potential to build top-tier programs, and ability to advance UMN priorities. McRee’s research focuses on improving health by promoting adolescent preventive services including vaccination.

McRee Invited Speaker at European Research Organization on Genital Infection & Neoplasia
Annie-Laurie McRee was an invited speaker at the European Research Organization on Genital Infection and Neoplasia conference in Lisbon, Portugal. McRee presented her work using electronic approaches for providing targeted and tailored health messages to promote HPV vaccination.

Oliphant: HPV Vaccination and Comprehensive Sex Education
Jenny Oliphant, PRC community outreach coordinator, was recently interviewed on KMOJ’s “Know Your Options” radio show. Oliphant discussed the importance of HPV vaccination among young people. She also provided testimony on the Minnesota K-12 Education Omnibus Bill, educating legislators on the benefits of comprehensive sex education.
