Jordan Awarded Funding to “Empower Youth to Become Energy Leaders”
HYD-PRC faculty Cathy Jordan, PhD, LP, Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and colleauges from the Institute on the Environment, Renewable Energy Partnerships, Youth Eco Solutions (YES!), Climate Generation and UMass Lowell were awarded a 3-year, $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation. This funding will support their “Empowering Youth to Become 21st Century Energy Leaders: A STEM Workforce Development Initative.”

CDC Features Shlafer and team’s Building COVID-19 Confidence in Minnesota Prisons & Jails
HYD-PRC faculty, Rebecca Shlafer, PhD, and team members Ingie Osman and Katie Pierson were featured by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for their support of COVID vaccine confidence among individuals incarcerated in Minnesota prisons and jails. The team, in consultation with the project’s advisory board, created five videos highlighting common COVID-19 vaccine concerns shared by those who are incarcerated. The videos are captioned in English, Hmong, and Spanish and were shared with Minnesota’s 11 state prisons and 85 county jails.
