About - Training

Our experienced trainers help youth-serving adults build their capacity to support adolescents’ healthy youth development and sexual health. We offer evidence-based, fun, interactive adolescent health education and professional development on a range of topics, including the most widely used EBIs (Making Proud Choices, Making a Difference, Teen Outreach Program, Project MARS, and Safer Sex Intervention (SSI). Whether you choose an in-person, full-day course or build your own virtual training event from our flexible menu, we can help make “best practice” your team or agency’s regular practice.

We provide high-quality, competitively-priced professional development in our roles as consultants, educators, and trainers. With our colleagues, we work hard to eliminate health disparities. We strive for “flexible, wise, and humble:” we deliver all content through a lens of equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.

FAQs

Do you work with organizations outside of Minnesota?
Yes! We work locally, regionally and nationally. If you focus on adolescent sexual health, please contact us about potential ways to collaborate.

How much do you charge for your services?
Most half-day trainings start at $900; and most full-day trainings start at $1,800. We will work with you to design a training that meets your needs and your budget. Contact us to discuss what is possible.

When is the best time to schedule a training?

Our schedule varies by season. We typically require 4-6 weeks of planning time, at a minimum. Executing a contract between the University of Minnesota and your agency can also take several months, in some instances.

Can we write you into a grant proposal to conduct training and professional development?
Yes! We are happy to talk with your team about what we can provide for you and at what cost. We have lots of experience being written into proposals large and small.

What do we supply as contractors vs what do you provide as trainers?
Typically you’ll supply training space, a projector, and flipchart paper. If it’s easier logistics-wise for you to provide copies, we may ask you to do that. We bring the rest - fidgets, post its, pens - all of the items to keep people focused and engaged during the training.

What is included in my training quote?

Cost for training includes time to prepare, deliver and evaluate the training. Virtual trainings include our staff time, while in-person trainings include our time and travel expenses (if outside Twin Cities Metro area).

Are you certified to train on evidence-based interventions (EBIs)?
Our team is certified to train on more than two dozen of the most popular evidence-based programs. You can find the full list of our EBI training offerings here. If you’d like us to become trained in an EBI that’s not on the list so we can train your team, let’s talk!

Do you provide training for teens or parents?
Our trainings are designed for youth-serving professionals that provide direct services to parents and teens.

How do I find out about future professional training opportunities?
Please sign up for our newsletter, where we will publicize upcoming professional development and training opportunities.
